At Cat5 Jiu-Jitsu Association, we believe that building a strong academy starts with building strong instructors. For decades, Professor Alberto V. Da Silva has dedicated his life to empowering students and teachers; offering the guidance, resources, and structure needed to help passionate practitioners grow into confident leaders and outstanding representatives of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
In many academies, instruction lacks structure. Techniques are often taught in random order, belt promotions are inconsistent; and students, despite their effort may feel overlooked, discouraged, or lost. We recognized that true progress, both on the mats and off, requires clarity and accountability. That’s why we’ve spent years developing a meticulously organized curriculum that mirrors the planning and structure of higher education.

Affiliate instructors must be committed to preserving the core techniques and teaching methods of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, as defined by the standards of Cat5. Above all, Jiu-Jitsu should be taught first as a system of self-defense honoring the original purpose of the art.

Each instructor is a reflection of our team and our community. We expect all affiliates to lead by example, upholding discipline, practicing humility, and acting with integrity in all areas of life. Physical health, mental well-being, and a passion for empowering others are non-negotiable.
